Exploring Gender and Identity through Art and Activism: a group for Trans, Queer, and questioning youth age 24 and under

Black Youth Program:RITES


For youth of African descent ages 14 – 18


RITES is the acronym for Resiliency, Identity, Transformation, Empowerment and Self-determination. This intervention aims to promote positive social development, strengthen racial identity and build on existing resiliency factors through weekly group sessions and individual counselling. This process will create an opportunity for healing, self-awareness and transformation.


Goals for Participants: Educate yourself on issues that impact your health & wellbeing; Positively impact your community; Learn to reduce stress; Use digital media to showcase your creativity; Challenge stereotypes; HAVE FUN!
  • 24-week awareness and skill-building group
  • Individual counselling sessions
  • Meets Wednesday nights from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m.
  • youth of African descent ages 14 – 18

BOYOBOY


For Younger gay/bi/queer guys, 12 – 24 years old


Through discussion of arts and culture, history and current events, guest speakers, music, video and film clips, creative and interactive activities, BOBC addresses issues of identity, sex, love, relationships and gender.


Always entertaining and educational, each workshop focuses on a specific topic or theme.
  • Biweekly, drop-in workshop series
  • Every 2nd and 4th Tuesday, 7:00 – 9:00 pm

Transceptance


  • Ongoing peer support group for parents and caregivers of transsexual and transgendered youth and adults
  • Provides support, reduces isolation and stress, and shares information, including strategies for dealing or coping with disclosures
  • Meets the third Thursday of each month from 7 – 9 p.m. at CTYS
  • New members welcome
