About Y-Gap

Y-GAP is a community-based research partnership between Pride & Prejudice, Central Toronto Youth Services (CTYS), and Rebecca Hammond of Dalhousie University.  Y-GAP is committed to understanding and improving the lives of trans youth living in Toronto and across Ontario, by identifying gaps in knowledge about their lives, development and service needs.

WHY A RESEARCH PROJECT WITH TRANS YOUTH?

• Because youth experiences and issues are often different from those of adults.
• Because youth deserve their own voice.  
• Because service providers and policy makers listen to research.
• Because there is no provincial or national data highlighting the experiences of trans youth.
